When it comes to Government a big Question mark '?' comes in my mind but despite of this, I really appreciate the contribution of Government to the IT sector.
There is no doubt, from last few years Govt. has realized the importance of IT and IT knowledge for a common people. There are many items where Govt. is showing interest and doing some extraordinary. Some of the items are:
1) Institutes
2)Engineering colleges
3)IIM
4)Medical Services
5)Infrastructure
There are many agencies, firms, and institutes which runs under the Govt. and proven ed to be beneficial for those who are willing to get the IT knowledge but don't have enough money.
STPI(Software Technology Park Of India) established in 1991, is one of the govt. agency which is really working hard to provide services and infrastructure to middle class people.
Looking at the other perspective govt. of India is highlighted for the corruption level in whole world and i am not denying to say that the Govt. is really contributing in its best possible way but the amount passed for development is cut off by the middle person which results in the lack of fund for the proper growth. If this process and system corruption continue than i am really sorry to say it will still take hundreds of year to reach and compete with the other countries.
At last but not the least the conclusion of above topic is
From last few years Govt. has initiated by passing some policies to increase the level of IT in India. Many of the job oriented courses are running under the norms of govt. so that each of us can get the basic knowledge of computer.

Government Contribution to IT

Late 1980 there was not even a computer in india and nobody was aware with information technology, but as the "Rajiv Gandhi" came in government as the prime minister, he introduces the first computer in India and due to this step the communication system is completely changed in India.
now days as we know that computer is used everywhere and government is playing a great role in contributing IT in india. Government has made many rules, policies etc. government of india has provide an infrastructure to IT.
In education government provide many IT related course in the syllabus, that increases the thinking of Indians. government opens many institutes in India like IIT's, IIM's, IIIT, many engineering colleges etc.
Software Technology Park is a government agency which is for export oriented schemes. Government aslo trying to increase IT in rural areas. It has launched many product like e-mitra jan-mitra, lok-mitra etc. these products was introduced by state government to help citizens.
jan-mitra is an electronic platform by which citizen of Rajasthan can avail information about any government department.
e-mitra provide many services related to state government to all rural and urban area citizens electronically.
State Government also launched lok-mitra for the citizen of Jaipur which helps in submitting bills online, reduces time and money.
National Portal is provided by NIC which is used to access information that is provided by indian government.
Now we can say that Government continuously trying to improve IT infrastructure in india by reducing import-export fares by which IT products can be purchase and sale easily around the world.

Government's contribution to IT
I think there is very less contribution of government to IT sector.whenever any company wants to establish an industry then it has to pay lots of duty,so only few companies can afford these charges.
After getting duty the government has no control over these industries and leave it for MNC's .How these MNC's operate this sector it depends on the MNC's it self.
The development in the IT sector is not due to the government it is because of some talented and well educated persons.
One other point is that in the rural areas there is no basic computer education provided by the government.All the schemes and programs are in papers only.There is no implementation og these schemes.
So,the conclusion is that,the government should try to do more contribution to IT sector.
After getting duty the government has no control over these industries and leave it for MNC's .How these MNC's operate this sector it depends on the MNC's it self.
The development in the IT sector is not due to the government it is because of some talented and well educated persons.

As the Topic is Government Contribution to IT Industry Well I think that Government is not Contributing as much as they should do,In India IT Industry has to pay a lot of duty for establishment of Industry and even they have to survive with govt policies and govt pressure
I think that IT revolution has taken place not b'coz of govt but due to sheer diligance and hardwork of educated people.If all things get handover to govt then there would be only the involvement of dirty politics
FOR EX:Govt pressured the industry for giving the reservation to SC/ST in Private sector
If we'll talk about history then from past 30 years we are dependent upon govt what govt has done we all know the progress and amendments that gov has done .no facilities like computer education if the tender pass then it get through in the hands of politicians all wants money and take money .hence the process takes another 10 years to pass tender hence no progress in rural areas because that people r in the hands of govt .hence if govt is not contributing in our country as other country govt does.it needs to be improved and processes should be fast and steady up to some extent and should be taken care of all people in rural areas to make them literate with computer then only can india can achieve success like other country .
